Teen Lok – Part 1

Best way to attain Veetragta is through study of Karnanuyog. It has complicated mathematics and requires structural thinking. But it is easy to digest compared to Dravyanuyog which feels easy to listen to but difficult to digest.

Teen Lok:

There is only 1 Lok. Depending on how we categorize, there may be upto 6 Lok. Best way to call it is Teen Lok. We could call it Duniya as well based on split of Nischay and Vyavhar.(2 Nay)

Where does this Duniya come from? Based on different scientific models, there are steady state theory, big bang theory and others. According to Jain philosophy, this Universe is ‘Not-Artificial’ meaning no one has made it. It is shat-dravyatmak. Built on 6 elements.

  1. Jiv – Soul
  2. Pudgal – Matter
  3. Dharma – Medium of Motion
  4. Adharma – Medium of Rest
  5. Akash – Space
  6. Kaal – Time

There is no entity possible outside of 6 elements which is why no one has created the universe because nothing existed outside of it. Since the universe is not created, it can not be destroyed.

There are 3 types of Lok:

  1. Gyan Lok
  2. Arth Lok
  3. Shabd Lok

Meanings change when we change our way of speech. So we will be discussing Arth Lok. Lok based on physical existence.

Lok-Alok

Alok is everything outside of Lok. It is composed entirely of Akash. There is no Pudgal so it doesn’t have any properties like light, darkness etc. There is no time either. Alok is infinitely big. There is no end to it.

There are 3 Vaat-Valay at the boundary of Lok.

  1. Ghanodadhi-Dense with moisture
  2. Ghan-Dense dry
  3. Tanu-Thin

Measurement of Lok

DimensionMeasurement
Height14 Raju
Width at Base7 Raju
Width at Middle 1 Raju
Width at Top Middle 5 Raju
Width at Top 1 Raju
Breadth 7 Raju
Volume 343 Raju^3

Explaination of 1 Raju:

1 Human & 1 Dev are clapping their hands at Human speed. After 1 clap, Dev goes to each and every Akrutrim Chaitalay (Natural Temple) existing in Madhya Lok i.e. 458 temples and comes back in time to clap again. If that Dev travels for 6 months non-stop at the same speed, that would amount to 1 Raju.

One more calculation is if 1000Kg iron ball if dropped from Swarg Lok and the speed it gathers at the bottom and if at that speed it travels for 6 months non stop then it would equal to 1 Raju.

1 Raju is infinite Yojan.
Yojan is 2000 Kos.
1 Kos is 2 Miles or 3 Kms.

1 yojan is 6000Km long.
